Beauties in vain their pretty eyes may roll; charms strike the sight, but merit wins the soul.
- Pope, English Poet, Critic, and Translator (1688-1744)
A lot of liberals I talk to seem to be in denial over the fact that the Non-Fox News in America has abandoned all the journalistic principles they might once have had to become a collection of single-minded, left-wing propaganda machines. Not surprising really, most liberals won’t even admit there’s a left-wing bias to the news. (It’s pretty hard to deny when you consider the fact that in a country where only 1 in 5 Americans describe themselves as liberals, consistently over the years, members of the media have described themselves as liberal by a 3 or 4 to 1 margin.)
For anyone who would still try to deny how blatant and widespread the media’s propaganda campaign has become, I offer you the coverage of the latest bit of news from the Antarctic.
As you probably heard, a bunch of scientists with a bunch of grant money were fixing to prove their global warming theories, so they booked a trip to the Antarctic to try to dig up some evidence of how warming was melting the ice, but while they were there looking for that melting ice, they ended up getting stuck right in the middle of what NASA describes as the largest expansion of ice since measurement began in 1979.
The irony of an expedition looking for melting ice only to get trapped in a record ice expansion is almost too good to be true. That kind of irony is thicker than the very ice that trapped them. How could anyone imagine reporting that story without mentioning the reason why the researchers were there in the first place?
Except that’s exactly what happened.
Forty out of 41 stories (97.5 percent) on the network morning and evening news shows since Dec. 25 failed to mention climate change had anything to do with the expedition. In fact, rather than point out the mission was to find evidence of climate change, the networks often referred to the stranded people as “passengers,” “trackers” and even “tourists,” without a word about climate change or global warming.
That’s right, not just one news report chose to ignore the irony, but 40 out of 41 news stories chose to ignore it! It’s like the news networks were handed a perfect joke from God Himself and then they all decided they’d deliver the setup with a straight face and skip the punchline altogether!
How do you give the audience the setup to the joke and then not deliver the punchline??? Unless you’re just completely batshit crazy and totally over the fanatical deep end, how do you not . . . oh wait, I just answered my own question there, didn’t I?
The next time the conversation turns to media bias, just remember that fact: forty out of forty one news reports wouldn’t even mention the purpose of the research vessel. That’s how blatant and widespread the propaganda has become.
