The Obama State Media

As close as we are to having a one-sided, left-wing state-controlled media, do you ever wonder why liberals hate FoxNews so much? Because one dissenting voice in the media is one too many!

I enjoy considering all sides, so I try to follow as many liberals as I can on twitter. Received the following tweet from @moment_um . . .

Which took me to this article:

Here’s why the supercommittee is failing, in one sentence: Democrats wanted the rich to pay more in taxes towards deficit reduction, and Republicans wanted the rich to pay less in taxes towards deficit reduction.

Okay, that’s fine, it’s one thing to have conviction in your beliefs, but it’s quite another thing to say there’s only one side to the story (surprise – their’s!) and that only one side of the story should be reported by the media!

Any news outlet that doesn’t convey this basic fact to readers and viewers with total clarity is obscuring, rather than illuminating, what actually happened here.

Yes, because far be it for the media to do their job as journalists and report the fact that there are two sides to the story! You have to love the way most liberals cannot even hide their desire to be living in an authoritarian state with a state-controlled media. ONLY ONE SIDE DESERVES CONSIDERATION – OURS!

As a lover of words, my favorite line from the advocate for tyranny was some fine poetry in the most Orwellian sense:

we will be inundated with reams of bogus false equivalence reporting about it

So I tweet back to my friend (former friend in his book) the following:

His reply?

Me personally? I like freedom, I like having my ideas challenged, I like the debate. So very sad that so many liberals want to surround themselves with only the like-minded, choosing to live in a tiny little pond of political clones of themselves.

The authoritarian streak runs deep in so many liberals, they don’t even disguise their hate for freedom, they don’t want their ideas challenged, they don’t like the ideas of free speech and a free debate, their idea of a perfect world is a world where everyone thinks in absolute lock step. How utterly, unbelievably boring.

Is it any wonder that every single totalitarian dictatorship on this Earth is left-wing, socialist, communist with a state-controlled media? This is the left-wing version of a perfect world – a boot smashing a human face forever.

  • Hi Mike,

I’m karmacamilleon1 from Twitter. I followed your breadcrumb trail here. Nice blog. Love the music and the quotes up top. I agree that leftists seem to crave authoritarianism. Regarding the supercommittee, however, I think it’s a failure of weak-willed establishment types for creating this ridonkulous monstrosity in the first place. It’s simply more evidence of legislators being unwilling to put their precious titles on the line to fight for what’s right. Even the tea party candidates have been subsumed by the machine for the most part. But we will continue to fight the good fight!

    • Hey Camille, thanks for the comment and glad you’re loving the music!

Regarding the supercommittee, I think you’re spot on. Never have we had a Congress where even the most conservative Democrat is more liberal than the most liberal Republican. This polarized legislature is largely the result of gerrymandering, redrawing the districts so each is more demographically on one side or the other.

Then you have the increasing polarization of the electorate, and the sleazy media which abandons its journalist principals, news networks like MSNBC and CNN deciding that fair and objective does not get the same ratings as raw meat for the ideologues, and now the constituents who elect our officials see the world in some monotone black and white, our side or theirs . . . is it any wonder when the districts become less and less demographically diverse and when the electorate is fed more and more one-sided propaganda that the elected officials, beholden to those who elected them, are hamstrung and incapable of compromise?

You know what though? To hell with them if they can’t make a compromise, as much as we hear gloom and doom about the automatic cuts that will ensue, I welcome it, slash $600 billion from defense, they can make due, make those automatic cuts and we’ll either a) find out that all hell didn’t break loose with the automatic cuts or b) our legislators will be properly arm-twisted a little harder to find some common ground the next time around.

  • I enjoy media with a point of view. I’m no moderate but I like to hear from lots of different sources. It makes me feel really sad when I get aspects of stories from Al Jazeera and Russia Today that I don’t get from our media.

I want to be treated like a grown up by our media. Present different ideas. I can handle it.

So far as the stupor committee goes, it’s a gimmick and a set up. They really shouldn’t have to be in the position to compromise or find common ground. If they can, great. More importantly, if our representatives felt more attached to their philosophies about our system and how it can best run and less attached to the cocktail party invites inside the beltway- they’d vote their conscience and bedamned the election consequences. It’s only because the whole lot of them were a bunch of wusses that we ended up in this boat anyway.

I don’t have his book yet, but Peter Schweizer’s Throw Them All Out has more and more appeal.

    • If we could make this happen, it would be absolutely beautiful:

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athenian_democracy#Selection_by_lot_.28Allotment.29

If twelve randomly selected people can decide the fate of one person’s life, then surely we can put faith in a lottery for our legislature. Uproot all the entrenchment, a legislature of our peers, just like a jury, a legislature of our peers, it would fix everything that’s wrong with Washington.

It’ll never happen, but if I had a genie in a bottle and just one wish, that would be mine.
