Every other sin hath some pleasure annexed to it, or will admit of an excuse: envy alone wants both.
- Robert Burton, English Clergyman and Scholar (1576-1640)
On September 8, 2010, one of the greatest speeches in American political history was made by a heretofore unknown candidate for Start County treasurer, Phil Davison.
Who could argue that the position of county treasurer doesn’t desperately need a man with this kind of unbridled passion?
How Phil Davison failed to win the election, how he failed to win even the nomination, it boggles the mind and defies belief.
One of the best parts of the story of this unknown man being launched into national notoriety is the fact that as Phil Davison was going viral to the tune of a couple million views of one his videos, Phil didn’t even know what a YouTube was. Phil explains it:
A friend called, and well, I’m not very good with electronics, is there a YouTube? It was on some kind of electronic server.
One last bit, too funny not to share . . .
