It is astonishing how well men wear when they think of no one but themselves.
- Bulwer-Lytton, English Novelist and Poet (1803-1873)
So the House Republicans pass a measure to strip lawmakers and their staff of the exemptions for Obamacare and make them live by the same rules as the rest of us.
How did Senator Harry Reid respond?
This time the House has attached a poison pill that would punish 16,000 congressional staff.

The Senate Majority Leader has so much disdain for the American people that he can’t even hide it. Reid says that any legislation proposing that lawmakers and their staff live by the same laws as the rest of us is a poison pill that they will never swallow. No sir, the poison pill of Obamacare is not for us, that poison pill is for all the rest of you little peons.
He just comes out and says it right there, don’t expect us to “punish” our staff with the same mandates we’re imposing on you.
The whole concept of public service died long ago. This is the ruling elite, authoritarian thugs who find the mere suggestion that they abide by the rules they make for us as being laughable, not even worthy of consideration.
I guess this kind of “do as I say, not as I do” mentality should be no surprise when you consider that these are many of the same liberal politicians who would think nothing of stripping law-abiding Americans of their gun rights as long as it doesn’t affect the armed guards they have protecting their own lives.

Can you imagine the meeting where Joe Nocera either proposed it or was given the task of blogging a list of the worst gun violence he could dredge up across America on a daily basis? However it went down, they have a new feature at the NY Times website which selectively lists all the horrible uses of guns on a daily basis . . . to which I had to respond:
All the criminals and robbers and rapists and ganstas in America applaud your efforts to disarm America’s law-abiding citizens. – Mike Cornelison, The OC
and a thoughtful reply came back:
Oh come on. No one is trying to disarm America’s law abiding citizens. You’ve been drinking tea from Wayne LaPierre’s teat if you believe that.
What people are trying to do is to find a way to make our society a safer place. One big thing would be to take unlicensed, unregistered guns from people who should not have them. Doing this would place a small responsibility on responsible gun owners to register their guns on a regular basis, like they do motor vehicles. This is not a violation of your rights, so don’t whine about violating the Second Amendment.
Take personal responsibility for yourself. If you want to own guns, show that you are capable of being a good citizen. Distinguish yourself from the criminals and robbers and rapists and gangstas and rednecks and hoarders and extremists and contribute to the society that provides you with the right to own a gun. – Them or Us, New York
to which I replied:
Uh yeah, you want every law-abiding gun owner in America in a national database, right? Don’t think it can’t happen here. I’m sure the Germans thought they were just voting for CHANGE in the 1930s. You’re comfortable with Obama’s Justice Department saying King, er – President Obama can act as judge, jury and executioner in using drone strikes on American citizens? I bet you howled in protest against the PATRIOT Act under Bush, only to be silent in reply to the expansion of the government’s powers to examine every email sent and received in America. Don’t think it can’t happen here, that we should all be good little lambs and put all our faith in the government to protect us when we’re just a couple more slips down a slippery slope until someone determines that all those doors of the gun owners in the national database need a visit.
The Clinton Justice Department identified 1.5 million cases per year of guns used for self defense. Let that sink in for a bit and then consider this – the Second Amendment came just after the first not for self-defense against criminals and robbers and rapists, but to ensure that the government would fear the people and not the other way around. – Mike Cornelison, The OC
The New York Times calls its new propaganda campaign, “The Day in Gun Violence in America”.
Notice the fact that not a single incident from Chicago is mentioned. Chicago, where the strictest gun control laws in America have been imposed on its law-abiding citizens and where more people are dying in Chicago’s streets than our soldiers in Afghanistan.

Consider this fact:
It is estimated that by the time an average child leaves elementary school, he or she will have witnessed 8,000 murders and over 100,000 other acts of violence. By the time that child is 18 years-of-age; he or she will witness 200,000 acts of violence, including 40,000 murders.
source:Parents Television Council
Think about that, by the age of 12, the average American child has witnessed 8,000 acts of murder on television alone.
Even if you were some sort of diabolical dictator whose goal was desensitize your entire nation towards murder and the killing of your fellow human beings, you could not even plan a much more effective program of brainwashing and desensitizing your nation’s children than this.
That’s what Hollywood brings us: 8,000 murders witnessed by the average 12-year-old child. That doesn’t even include the movies America’s children are watching away from the television.
So when some jackass like Jim Carrey tweets this:
‘Cold Dead Hand’ is abt u heartless motherf%ckers unwilling 2 bend 4 the safety of our kids.Sorry if you’re offended… say.ly/jtu5rar
— Jim Carrey (@JimCarrey) March 24, 2013
and then posts a song less funny than his latest box office bomb, a song that portrays anyone who supports the Second Amendment as a bunch of dumb redneck yokels, it’s really disgusting to see just how detached from reality these Hollywood-types become, living in their mansions with armed bodyguards and surrounding themselves with like-minded limousine liberals. Not only are you completely out of touch, but you’re insulting half the people who bought tickets to your crappy movies and made you half of all those millions in your bank account. Nice career move.
First off, you’re a Canadian, so shut your Canadian pie-hole and stop making bigoted portrayals of the good people of the Red States and Red State-minded Americans everywhere.
Second off, if you think you’re smarter than America’s founding fathers, you’re even more of an idiot than the characters you portray on movie screens.
Most importantly however, if you, in your Canadian wisdom, want to go attacking America and it’s Constitution, why don’t we start at the top of the list, with the First Amendment.
For the mental defectives who go off on killing sprees, where do you think they got that idea? Who do you think planted that seed in their feeble little brains? Do you think having witnessed 8,000 murders on TV by the age of 12 might have helped soak their spongy little brains?
How bad is Hollywood’s glorification of violence? Consider the fact that, in one of the sickest ironies of all time, the audience in Aurora watched a trailer of the movie Gangster Squad showing a scene where the gangsters gunned down an audience in a movie theater, just before they got gunned down themselves.
You want to portray gun violence as a bunch of rednecks clinging to their guns? Look at Chicago, you ignorant fool. Toughest gun laws in the nation and yet every month there’s a death toll higher than any of the yearly handful of spree shootings in America. Do you really think the gangsters do anything other than laugh at your attempts to strip law-abiding citizens of their right to bear arms?
You want to do something that could have a real effect on gun violence in America, stop trying to grab guns from law-abiding citizens and take a look at the blood you and the culture of Hollywood have on your own hands.

Amazing that we have to explain the process of amending the Constitution to a guy the media sold us on as some sort of brilliant constitutional scholar.
Please note that the executive branch, executive orders and the office of the president are never mentioned in any way with the process of amending the Constitution.
“No Congress? No problem.” That’s the attitude of the so-called constitutional scholar who now resides in the White House. I have news for you, King Barry. Now that you don’t have to worry about being re-elected, you may think you can trample the Constitution without being held accountable, but on that, you couldn’t be any more mistaken.
From an Oregon sheriff vowing not to enforce unconstitutional gun control laws to a lawsuit challenging federal gun control in Montana to a Texas lawmaker proposing arrest for any feds who try enforcing new gun regulations in their state, this attempt to disarm the citizens is a fight the would-be tyrants on the left are going to wish they’d never started.
