Letters from the Lunar Outpost

'Tis not a lip, or eye, we beauty call, But the joint force and full result of all.
- Pope, English Poet, Critic, and Translator (1688-1744)

When you are on the field, you are at your job and you are earning your salary.

While most of us who are fans of the NFL are not as privileged as you are to be making millions of dollars doing what we do, most of us do understand the basic fact that when we arrive at our workplaces, we are there to perform a job. Regardless of race, color or creed, most working Americans understand and abide by the simple rule that when we go to work, we leave our politics at home.

You, Mr. NFL Player, are getting paid millions of dollars to play a game. The people of America pay good money to see you play that game, so when you get to the stadium, act like a professional, play the friggen' game and then just as soon as you leave your workplace, you are as free as anyone else to exercise your First Amendment rights.

For anyone who believes such as I do that racism has been and continues to be one of the most vile and destructive scourges in all human history, it stands to reason that one of the greatest goals of our human race should be to move past the racial divisions and towards an attitude of neutral indifference when it comes to race. The sad reality, however, is that as long as most liberals stubbornly cling to their maniacal obsession with race, the whole of humanity will never evolve into a post-racial species.

How bad is the liberal obsession with race? Consider liberal softballer Chris Matthews, when he made this unwitting admission of his obsession with race after Obama’s State of the Union Address in 2010:

You know, I forgot he was black tonight for an hour.

Shocked at the Liberal Obsession with Race

Source: WaPo

Seriously? This comment was made Jan 28, 2010, over two years after Obama became president and almost three years after he announced his campaign for president.

Never has a more telling sentence slipped from the lips of a left-wing talking head. Chris Matthews is admitting flat-out that after 1,000 days of Obama making speeches, he finally made it through an entire Obama speech without thinking about Obama’s blackness.

What did it sound like inside Matthews liberal head for the other 999 days when he saw Obama speaking? “Oh my God, he’s so . . . black! He’s just so black! He’s not as black as coal or as black as a moonless night, but he’s still very black. I can’t believe how black Obama is! Even his name even sounds African! He’s just so damn black!”

It’s an astounding look into the race-obsessed liberal mind.

For me, I watched Obama’s inauguration and I was surprised at my reaction when I felt the tears welling up in my eyes. Why was I so surprised at my own reaction? Because during the campaign, I was thinking about the words Obama was speaking and the policies he was proposing. I hadn’t given a damn about Obama’s skin color during the entire campaign, so it was really the first time I had given it more than a passing thought as I said to myself, “My God, we just elected a black president! God bless America!”

But for most liberals, even the most non-racial discussion about Obama must be twisted back to their delusion that everyone else is just as race obsessed as they are.

When I wrote a post about how twice as many soldiers have died in Afghanistan in half the time under “peace prize” Obama as did during “war criminal” Bush and then reflected about how Bush quit playing golf because he felt it disrespectful for grieving parents to see the president golfing during the war, whereas the war-expanding Obama had just hit a milestone of 100 rounds of golf, not even a hint of race was mentioned anywhere in my entire post. In an alternate reality, I could have made the exact same post substituting the name of a President Kerry or a President Gore.

Yet the liberal compulsion to take the most non-racial discussion and pervert it into something racial is just too strong to for most of them to resist, as evidenced by this sample of tweets I received in response:

Repeatedly I asked these race mongers to show me exactly what it was that I had said that compelled them to try to brand me a “racist.” I received nothing but more lame generalities and false platitudes in reply.

When liberals start throwing around the term “racist” without a shred of evidence to back it up, besmirching people who couldn’t be anything farther from it, the psychological term for this type of behavior is “projection.” They are projecting their own racism onto the rest of the world around them. Unfortunately for the rest of the world, as long as the typical liberal remains pathologically fixated on race and the color of people’s skin, we as a species will never evolve into that color-blind society the rest of us have been dreaming of.

Most liberals claim a great affinity for the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., but it seems to me they’ve either never really heard or read his words, or if they have, they never grasped what Dr. King was saying because they are so very far from the fundamental ideals he taught.

Read, my liberal friends, read . . . contemplate . . . meditate:

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

Every time someone judges President Obama by his actions and nothing more, regardless of whether they approve or disapprove, they are judging the man by the content of his character and they are living up to the dream of Dr. King.

Every time a liberal injects race into an honest debate when there was never even a hint of a racial issue being raised, they are defiling the dream.

Every time a liberal mindlessly slanders people who dare question the president by calling them “racist,” that is setting race relations backwards centuries, a very regressive action for the liberals who seek to re-brand themselves as “progressives.”

In the name of all that is good and all that can be even better in the human race, abondon your obsession with race, my liberal friends.
