Letters from the Lunar Outpost

Be your character what it will, it will be known; and nobody will take it upon your word.
- Chesterfield, English Statesman and Author (1694-1773)

Wakin’ up feelin’ like a kick in the head
Thinkin’ that today I’d be better off alive
I still have some hope and some friends that care
I guess I’ll get up and go brush my teeth

Born to be – a bitter old man please forgive me
Search for peace – ‘til I am tired, ‘til I’m weary
Preach to me – I’ll walk a mile inside of your shoes
Search for God – the more I search the more I’m confused

And I never started something I could finish
And I never could stop something that I started
Please forgive me

Waitin’ for something but what I don’t know
Hopin’ that someday this feeling may go
All of my problems are the ones that I create
I have no reason to curse at my fate

I still have some love and my heart’s somewhere
I guess I’ll pretend like I really do care

Look at me – my eyebrows are raised and my eyes are blurry
Search for peace – ‘til I am tired, ‘til I’m weary
Lullaby – I’ll sing myself to sleep if I try
Born to be – and I’ll be damned if you read my pages

And I never started something I could finish
And I never could stop something that I started
Please save me
Please set me free
